We all know and have read the science, yet the FDA won't allow companies to make such claims regarding wrinkels or anything that affects the structure/function of the skin regardless of a) science or b) validation studies. This is why we all need to support the The Free Speech About Science Act. This Act "ensures the free flow of legitimate scientific research for consumers to make informed decisions based on all scientific information—not just limited pieces endorsed by the government."

If we are going to say anything about effects of products, we need to support with science. The science needs to be reported in a responsible fashion, not just a marketing statement.

Are they just talking about using these topically or are some from studies with internal use? Like Vit C and HA work internally too, but what about licorice and niacinamide?

Thank you for your comments. These experts focused only on the topical use of these ingredients. So in this context, and with the referenced science, topical is the focus. However, @CAW, you are correct that several of these ingredients are increasingly popular as "beauty-from-within" (or nutricosmetic) supplements. The top contenders in that area are HA for its moisturizing properties and vitamin C for free-radical protection and collagen support. Also, vitamin B3 and vitamin A for potential acne-fighting benefits. Fields emphasizes the importance of using topicals WITH ingestibles in order to obtain the most benefits from each. I noticed that many of these ingredients, after researching them further, INHIBIT the body's production of Melanin and that's how the skin can get " brighter " and the hyperpigmation and brown / age spots will eventually even out and resolve itself and just go away after time as long as you are using these products with these ingredients.

I have to admit, I am a " Sun Worshiper", I love to lay in the sun in the summer and I try to keep up my " suntan" until Octber 13th ( my birthday ) and by doing so I go to the Tanning Salon, then after my birthday I give my skin a break and I treat it very well by giving myself Deep Cleansing Masks, using products with Retinol, cleansing and using anti-aging / firming " Treatments " before I apply my anti aging moisturizer and also using anti aging eye creams.etc...and sometimes I will " tan " again at the Tanning Salon during the Holiday Season just in case there is a rare opprtunity that I could have a party to go to.

One of my " hobbies" is researching the ingredients in facial creams, treatments. moisturizers, eye creams, etc...and when I recognize ingredients that Inhibit the production of Melanin, I have questions...

ANYWAY, my question is, when I am using creams/ moisturizers/serums with these ingredients that Inhibit the production of Melanin, is the production of Melanin inhibited all the time or only while I am using and having these products on my face? Let's say I want to lay in the sun tomorrw and I applied a moisturizer the night before with some of these ingredients thast inhibit the production of melanin, if I wash my face before I go out into the sun, will I still be able to get my suntan...as long as I am not using/wearing the product ...???

Any and ALL replies will be greatly appreciated !!!
Thank you very much and have a great weekend !!!
