The energy-sustaining and nutritional benefits of coconut oil have been relied upon by people in tropical regions of the world for centuries. In these areas, the harvest of the coconut palm is so important that the tree is known as the “Tree of Life.” Now, Navitas Naturals is introducing to the marketplace in North America an organic coconut oil in its most nutritious form: unrefined, virgin, and low temperature centrifuge-pressed. A delicious and versatile ingredient, Navitas Naturals Virgin Coconut Oil is a healthy replacement for common oils or butters used for cooking and baking.
Coconut oil is a cholesterol-free source of healthy plant-based saturated fats, and it features an abundance of medium chain fatty acids (MFCAs) - most notably lauric acid. Among the many benefits of MFCAs are long-lasting energy, increased metabolic rates, and anti-bacterial, anti-viral, and anti-fungal properties. Centrifuged coconut oil contains virtually no polyunsaturated fat, and it has approximately half of the undesirable mono-unsaturated fats compared to conventional coconut oils.
Navitas Naturals Virgin Coconut Oil is produced amongst the coconut palm farms of tropical Mexico. Fresh coconuts are sustainably harvested and then shelled, chopped, and quickly expeller pressed into a coconut milk, while never reaching over 115 degrees. The milk is then passed through a chilled centrifuge to separate the “skim” coconut milk from the fat, and the amazingly pure coconut oil is the rewarding result. This raw, kosher, gluten-free, vegan, and 100% organic product has only one ingredient – virgin coconut oil. Offered in a 15.5 ounce jar, Navitas Naturals Virgin Coconut Oil has a SRP of $16.79.
Some people may be surprised to find that at temperatures under 75F, Navitas Naturals Virgin Coconut Oil is a pure white ‘spoonable’ solid. It can be easily melted into a clear liquid. This delectable oil has a light tropical fragrance and buttery taste, which enhances both savory and sweet dishes. Because of its stable molecular structure and high smoke point, coconut oil is also among the healthiest choices for heated culinary applications. Coconut oil can be used as a 1:1 replacement for any other oil, butter, or animal fat. Navitas Naturals suggests: using virgin coconut oil in place of olive oil or butter in stir-fries, sauces, and baking; and, adding virgin coconut oil to oatmeal, toast, and smoothies.
