Although we have not seen a return to the healthy levels of merger & acquisition and investment activity enjoyed during 2005-2007, things are picking up. Overall deal activity in the United States has continued its steady rise over the past six quarters, buoyed by increased stability in the financial system, stronger equity markets, an easing in the credit markets, more positive corporate earnings and growth reports, and modest increases in consumer confidence and consumer spending.
