Social media rewrites the rules for direct sales

Facebook now serves 38.1% of the entire global online audience, according to February 2011 data from Google’s Ad Planner. This represents 590 million unique visitors each month generating 770 billion page views. That’s pretty close to a trillion, with a “t.” Data from Inside Facebook tracks 640 million users globally as of March 2011, with triple-digit annual growth rates evident in such developing markets as Brazil, Russia, Thailand and India.
