Canadian supplement industry faces Food and Drugs Act Bill C-51

 

In an effort to avoid pharmaceutical-style regulations and increased penalties, the Canadian Health Food Association and other trade groups will fight amendments to The Natural Health Products Directorate (NHPD) passed in 2004 to regulate natural products in Canada. Industry trade groups believe that Bill C-51 would restrict consumer access to supplements in Canada and make it more difficult for companies to bring new supplement products to market.
