As nutrition industry matures, patents more worth the time and effort

Filing and enforcement costs can be material, but IP increasingly important to business success

With nearly half a million applications filed annually — that's one almost every minute of every day — the United States Patent and Trademark Office is the busiest in the world. But while America is a nation of prolific innovation, the number of patents filed in the U.S. nutrition industry is far below average. Of those nutrition industry patents that are filed, still fewer actually get issued.
