Pharmachem Expands AVOCA Extraction Capability

KEARNY, NJ, APRIL 19, 2006—Avoca, Inc., currently the largest botanical extraction facility in North America, has completed a major expansion with the addition of a counter-current, Crown extractor with a capacity of 12-18 tons/day, according to David Holmes, founder and president, Pharmachem Laboratories, Inc. The 172,000 sq. ft. facility, located on 2400 acres in Merry Hill, NC, produces extracts for the fragrance, pharmaceutical and dietary supplement industries.

David Peele, president of Avoca, said “the new extractor will expand our current extraction capacity to approximately 95,000 tons per year. It will also provide crucial replacement capacity and help us to meet the future demands of our customers.”

The facility meets industry standards for current good manufacturing practices (cGMP). It features on-site storage of raw materials and a cGMP finished goods warehouse.

Pharmachem Laboratories, Kearny, NJ, is the supplier of various bulk ingredients and ingredient systems for the food, flavor and dietary supplement industries.
