The sea buckthorn berry, which is native to Europe and Asia has been recently featured on the June 2 segment of "The Dr. Oz Show", in which the health benefits of this berry was explored. Dr. Oz discussed how the sea buckthorn berry has been used to lose weight, prevent constipation and even as an ingredient in facial moisturizers.

Josh Wong, a sea buckthorn enthusiast, who runs Sea Buckthorn Oil (http://seabuckthornoil.net) is not surprised at the recent recognition that the sea buckthorn berry has received.

According to Josh, "After millennia of quiet use, the many sea buckthorn oil benefits have finally leaked out to the mainstream health industry. Some of the benefits of sea buckthorn oil are only just being discovered—Russian astronauts use it for UV protection, while women who are concerned about their appearance buy products with it included as an anti-aging ingredient. Individuals may be using it to help heal stretch marks or burns, or to help relieve skin conditions like acne"

During the segment, Dr. Oz mentioned a recent study in which mice were fed a diet that was high in fat. One group received sea buckthorn berries, while the control group did not. The mice in control group developed diabetes, heart disease and became highly fat, whereas the group that was fed the sea buckthorn berries did not experience these complications of a high fat diet. The study results had concluded that the sea buckthorn berry provides signals to the body to stop storing unnecessary fat, which may have a role in reducing diabetes and heart disease.

Dr. Oz uses the Sibu Beauty Revitalize & Renew Liquid Supplement($29.95 for 25.35 fl. oz), which is an all natural liquid dietary supplement made from sea buckthorn berries harvested in the Himalayas of Tibet.

Dr. Oz spoke about the role of sea buckthorn berries in preventing constipation. In unhealthy individuals, the lining of the intestinal tract is dry, which may lead to constipation. Sea buckthorn berries contain Omega-7 fatty acids that help keep the lining of the intestinal tract lubricate, which will allow everything to pass through quickly and easily. A recommendation of one 500 mg capsule of sea buckthorn daily can be used to prevent constipation.

Lastly, Dr. Oz noted on how sea buckthorn oil can keep the skin young and beautiful. He demonstrated how to rub the oil into the face in order to prevent wrinkles and recommended a once a day topical application to achieve the skin benefits.
