According to a recent survey conducted by Jacksonville, Fla.–based marketing firm Acosta Marketing Group, today’s consumers approach shopping much like how businesses evaluate financial decisions: They research, plan and even look for ROI. As a result, retailers should strive to frequently offer value items, listen to shoppers’ needs, and establish a feeling of community via social media networks to build store loyalty. The following numbers from Acosta shed more light on why people buy:
